170 COVID-19 Deaths In April

There are now 23,452 active cases

Data from the Ministry of Health & Wellness show that 170 people died from COVID-19 in Jamaica last month.

Five more were confirmed dead from the virus on Saturday, pushing the total to 784.

The five latest persons to be confirmed dead from the virus are all women.

Two of them – aged 83 and 93 – were from St. Catherine.

One – aged 95 – was from Trelawny.

The cause of death for the other two – an 83-year-old from St. Thomas and a 95-year-old from Westmoreland – were previously under investigation.

Ninety new infections were recorded on Saturday, pushing the overall case count to 45,867.

There are now 23,452 active cases.

There are now 213 patients in hospital with the virus, of whom 22 are listed as critically ill.
